Audition Notice for REALLY ROSIE

The Bucks County Playhouse (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) located in New Hope, PA will be holding an Equity Principals Audition (Non-Equity will be seen as time permits) for REALLY ROSIE, book and lyrics by Maurice Sendak, music by Carole King, directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge, on Saturday, February 16 from 10am-2pm at the Solebury School in New Hope, PA. No appointments necessary.

Seeking: AEA (m/f) actors ages 10-14. All males need to be a high baritone. All females need to be a strong belter and/or have a strong belt/mix voice. Please see breakdown.

Contract: Theatre for Young Audiences (pending), $438.75/week minimum

Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre or pop song in the style of the show and be prepared to dance (bring comfortable clothing). Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.

Non-Equity actors are encouraged to attend, and will be seen whenever there is no Equity actor auditioning or waiting to audition. Actors with housing in the Bucks County area helpful but not required.

Runs in New Hope, PA from July 5, 2013- July 21, 2013.

Description: Rosie, the sassiest kid on her block of Brooklyn’s Avenue P, entertains herself and her friends by acting out show biz fantasies, notably directing and starring in an Oscar winning movie. Written by the author and illustrator of Where the Wild Things Are and other popular children’s books, Really Rosie is a jewel for children and adults.

Breakdown:

Rosie – Dramatic, sassy, imaginative girl who leads her neighborhood friends in and out of adventures.
Chicken Soup – Rosie’s younger brother who causes her misery
Kathy – Rosie’s sidekick and secretary who longs for her chance in the spotlight
Alligator – Actually believes he is an alligator
Johnny – Shy and a bit nerdy
Pierre – A boy with an attitude problem
Neighborhood Kids – Extra friends that follow Rosie on her adventures
