SUMMER 2014 INTERNSHIPS

The historic Bucks County Playhouse, located in beautiful New Hope, PA, seeks interns in Arts Management, Box Office/ House Management, Company Management, Development, Marketing, and Production from May 26-August 25, 2014. All summer interns see Bucks County Playhouse shows, participate in Playhouse events, work directly under a mentor, are given specific projects and responsibilities, and have the opportunity to take workshops and master classes. Summer interns are paid a stipend of $100/ week plus housing, or, if they live locally, a stipend of $200 a week. Must have car. ARTS ADMINISTRATION

All Arts Administration interns play an important role in the day-to-day operations of our busy professional summer theatre. Arts Administration interns will have the opportunity to work within multiple departments.

ARTS MANAGEMENT – HIRED
Intern will answer to the Bucks County Playhouse General Manager and will assist with all aspects of behind-the-scenes theater operations during a fast-paced professional summer season. Arts Management candidates do not need theater experience, but must have a strong interest in learning about the not-for-profit arts world.

BOX OFFICE/ HOUSE MANAGEMENT - HIRED
Intern will assist with all aspects of audience management, from ticket sales to coordination of volunteers to patron services. Good customer service skills are a necessity and knowledge of Tessitura is a plus.

DEVELOPMENT - HIRED
Intern will assist in the creation of fundraising materials, offer support during donor events, and serve as a representative of Bucks County Playhouse pre-show and post-show. Responsibilities include researching potential individual, foundation, corporate and government funders, developing fundraising materials, assisting in coordinating special events such as donor receptions, play readings, and fundraising benefits, assisting in planning large mailings, and assisting with donor relations. Please submit writing sample with application.

MARKETING - HIRED
Intern will work directly with 3-person Marketing team, assisting in all aspects of Bucks County Playhouse’s multi-faceted marketing plan. Responsibilities will include attending shows, festivals, benefits, and press events as a representative of the theatre, distributing materials throughout Bucks County and beyond, attending marketing strategy meetings, providing administrative assistance, managing social media, and supporting all aspects of marketing campaigns. Marketing candidates should enjoy a fast-paced environment and have a strong interest in marketing and/or communication. Preference given to candidates with Mac proficiency and graphic design experience.

PRODUCTION

In keeping with the Bucks County Playhouse tradition that began in 1939, each production intern will have a specialization, but they will work across departments, assisting in all aspects of creating sets, costumes, props, sound, and lighting for all Bucks County Playhouse productions. Areas of work may include constructing sets, hanging and focusing lights, building and shopping props, learning stage rigging, assisting in the wardrobe, hair, and sound departments, working load ins/outs, and participating on run crews.

LIGHTING - HIRED
Intern will assist in load-in, hang, focus, and restore, learn and operate the light board, run spot, and assist lighting designers. Design opportunities possible. Please submit portfolio.

SOUND - HIRED
Intern assists sound designers, maintains sound equipment, and serves as A2. Design opportunities possible. Please submit portfolio.

SET/ PROPS - HIRED
Intern assists in carpentry, scenic painting, load-in, and load-out and maintains set and props. Must have basic carpentry and painting skills. Should have strong interest in set design and/or props design.

WARDROBE - HIRED
Intern assists in maintenance and repair of costumes, serves as dresser, and assists costume designers and wardrobe supervisor with shopping as needed.

GEN TECH - HIRED
Intern must be skilled in lights, sound, and carpentry and should have an interest in technical direction and/or production management.
