Historic Bucks County Playhouse, located in beautiful New Hope, PA, seeks fall and spring interns in Arts Management/ Company Management, Producing,  Development, Marketing, and Production. All  interns see Bucks County Playhouse shows, participate in Playhouse events, work directly under a mentor, and are given specific projects and responsibilities. Interns are paid a stipend of $200 a week. Must have car. Bucks County Playhouse interns have gone on to become staff members and teaching artists as well as getting involved as writers, actors, and directors in New Voices: Playwrights and Actors Festival.


All Arts Administration interns play an important role in the day-to-day operations of our busy professional theatre. Arts Administration interns will have the opportunity to work within multiple departments.

ARTS MANAGEMENT/ COMPANY MANAGEMENT intern will answer to the Bucks County Playhouse General Manager and will assist with all aspects of behind-the-scenes theater operations as well as artist travel and housing, cast parties, and theatre events. Arts Management/ Company Management candidates do not need theater experience, but must have a strong interest in learning about the not-for-profit arts world. HIRED

DEVELOPMENT  intern will assist in the creation of fundraising materials, offer support during donor events, and serve as a representative of Bucks County Playhouse pre-show and post-show. Responsibilities include researching potential individual, foundation, corporate and government funders, developing fundraising materials, assisting in coordinating special events such as donor receptions, play readings, and fundraising benefits, assisting in planning large mailings, and assisting with donor relations. MARKETING  intern will work directly with 3-person Marketing team, assisting in all aspects of Bucks County Playhouse’s multi-faceted marketing plan. Responsibilities will include attending shows, festivals, benefits, and press events as a representative of the theatre, distributing materials throughout Bucks County and beyond, attending marketing strategy meetings, providing administrative assistance, managing social media, and supporting all aspects of marketing campaigns. Marketing candidates should enjoy a fast-paced environment and have a strong interest in marketing and/or communication. Preference given to candidates with Mac proficiency and graphic design experience.

PRODUCING intern works directly with Tony Award-winning Producing Director Alex Fraser on all aspects of managing the theatre, on producing the 2015 Oscar Hammerstein Festival, and on preparing for the 2016 season. Responsibilities include assisting with scheduling, doing research, offering administrative support to the producing team and staff, taking meeting notes, and assisting at events and readings in Bucks County and New York. Ideal candidate should have a strong professional interest in producing.

PRODUCTION interns work across departments, assisting in all aspects of wardrobe, props, sound, and lighting for all Bucks County Playhouse productions. Areas of work may also include constructing sets, hanging and focusing lights, shopping and maintaining props, learning stage rigging, and working load-ins and strikes. All interns will work on run crews and have the opportunity to learn different elements of technical theatre. Selected production interns may have the opportunity to serve as assistant designers and ASM’s.
